Beginning Quilting 101 (2 Sessions)

Have you always wanted to learn how to quilt? Maybe you are self taught and want a professional quilter to walk you through the process. There is no better way than to receive personal instruction and have the opportunity to ask questions and receive immediate responses. Carol will walk you through the fundamental steps of quilting and this fantastic table runner is the perfect project for a beginner quilter.

It is now required that you purchase your fabric and supplies at Crafthouse - Why? We're glad you asked. We start teaching and get to know you during the shopping experience. Plus, we are familiar with our products and work hard curating quality products for you to achieve the best results in quilting.

  • Pre-wind one bobbin with thread if you bring your own sewing machine
If you already have these tools bring them. If not, Crafthouse has many of these items you may purchase at a 15% discount.
  • Cutting Mat 24 x 36 ideal.  18x 24 ok.  There will be mats available to use at the store for the class.
  • Rotary cutter 45mm.
  • Rulers - Marti Michell 6.5" square and 6x24 ruler
  • Scissors - Fabric only (sharp) and one for paper - can be cheap
  • Seam Ripper - any is fine. One with the rubber end helps remove stitches
  • Pins - Glass head or flower head long, thin, straight pins
  • Best Press
  • Schmetz Universal, Chrome or MicroTex Needles 80/12 and 90/14
  • Cotton Thread - 50 wt, Neutral color. I prefer a medium gray
  • Notebook, pencil and pen
  • Access to irons and ironing boards. You are welcome to bring your own iron and pressing surface if you prefer. 
  • You are welcome to use a shop machine - Bernina or Husqvarna.
  • If you prefer, bring your personal sewing machine and owner's manual. We reserve the right to ask you to use a shop machine if machine difficulties arise during class. 
  • Bring ¼” foot if available.

Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 2 students is required for a group class. For classes that are part of a series, a minimum of 3 students is required. If a class is canceled because there is not enough enrollment, you will receive a refund of your payment for the class or it can be used towards another class. Registration for a class closes by 6pm on the evening before a scheduled class. If there is not enough enrollment on the evening before a scheduled class, the class will be canceled and notification will be sent out at that time to those who have registered. 

If you must cancel, kindly notify Sonya via email or phone call 402-261-4453. Your cancellation becomes official after you receive notification from Crafthouse that your request has been made. 100% refund will be given with a 7 or more days notice before class. 50% refund will be given with a 3-6 day notice before class. No refunds are given for cancellations made within 48 hours of class. Not showing up for a class forfeits any refund or exchange. If CRAFTHOUSE must cancel a class, your class fee will be fully refunded or it can be used towards another class.

No exceptions are made for the Cancellation Policy. This allows us to make appropriate preparations and offer an available spot to other students when a class is full/sold out.
