How much time should I reserve?

Your rental time starts at your scheduled start time and ends when you remove your quilt and have cleaned the quilting area and put away tools used.

Below is a table for estimated completion times based on the size of your project, using a large, open design. Keep in mind the density of your quilting as well as your experience level should both be factored in when reserving your time. We need to have an idea of what size quilt you will be long-arm quilting so we can schedule your time.

Baby or Lap Quilt - 1 to 2 hours

Twin Quilt - 2 to 3 hours

Full Quilt - 2 to 3 hours

Queen Quilt - 2.5 to 4 hours

King Quilt - 3 to 4+ hours

What if I can't finish in the time I have reserved?

If no one is scheduled after your session, you may extend your time as needed and within our regular business hour ($8.00 per half hour past session time).

May I rent the machine for less than a full session?

The Machine can only be rented for a full session. However, when it is not in use, we’re happy to let you use it for less than a full session on a walk-in basis. The minimum charge for this type of rental is $25. This covers one hour of use. Then every 30 minutes after the first hour is charged at a rate of $8.00.

Things to Remember:

  • Renter agrees to operate Crafthouse’s Longarm machine and studio equipment at their own risk. Renter will not hold Crafthouse responsible for any injury caused to their person or damage caused to their quilt due to faulty operations.

  • Renter agrees to pay for any repairs or replacement of parts damaged while in operation caused by the renter.

  • Please do not wear very loose fitted clothing, dangling necklaces, tie back long hair and no scarves.
  • No food or drinks near the quilt or the machine.
  • Tools and pins should not be on the quilt or near the machine.
  • Please clean your work area before the end of your rental time.
  • Renter agrees to not adjust the tension, remove thread jams or replace needles without help from a Crafthouse team member.

Quilt Preparation Prior to Rental:

  • Your rental time will start at the time you have scheduled.  Please arrive with your quilt, batting and backing prepared and ready to load onto the machine. This means squaring your top and back. We recommend an extra 4" of backing fabric beyond quilt top on all sides and an extra 2" of batting on all sides. If you need access to a larger ironing board or cutting table, you may arrive early to utilize our studio to prepare your project. Remember, your rental time will start at the scheduled time whether you are ready to load or not.

What to bring with you:

  • Please make sure you come prepared to quilt and HAVE FUN! If that means you'd like to bring your headphones or ear buds to jam out while you quilt, we fully support.

  • Pictures of your quilting ideas, special tools, rulers, etc.

What not to bring with you:

  • Please do not bring your dog, cat, children, friend or significant other! This is time for you to enjoy the creative quilting process, not worry about what your kid (furry or otherwise) is doing.
